Twister

the twister software is entirely written in Java and makes use of the Java3D API by Sun. It runs as applet or standalone application.

current version:

Operating System:

MS Windows, SGI Irix or Sun Solaris. Unfortunately the Java3D API has not yet been ported to MacOS and possibly never will.

Graphics Adapter:

The bigger the better. OpenGL or DirectX

Java Runtime Environment 1.4 or later

The JRE 1.4 is available from Sun at http://java.sun.com/j2se. If you just want to run the software, install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). If you want to develop in Java, install the Software Development Kit (SDK) which includes the JRE.

Java3D API 1.3 or later:

Java3D 1.3 is available from Sun at http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/3D/. If you just want to run the software, install the Runtime (JRE). If you want to develop in Java3D, install the SDK. When installing the API for Windows, check first whether your graphics adapter supports OpenGL or DirectX and download the appropriate version. You have to install the Java JRE first.
